Allison Janney

AllisonAllison Brooks Janney, born on November 19, 1959, in America is an American actress. The actress is known for her work across various kinds of genres, both on screen and stage over a three-decade career. Janney won numerous honors, such as the Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Her work has also received seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney received nominations for at least two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston, and raised at home in Dayton (Ohio). The actress earned a scholarship to studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after graduating from Kenyon College. Following a string of minor and non-credited television and film appearances The breakthrough for Janney came from the character of C. J. Cregg in The West Wing, an NBC political drama The West Wing (1999-2006) and for which she was awarded Four Primetime Emmy Awards. The year 2014 saw her win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her character Margaret Scully on the Showtime period drama Masters of Sex.
